CITY REPRESENTATIVES  & ELECTED OFFICIALS

• Captain D. Crowder – Assistant Zone 4 Commander – Citywide and Zone-4-wide. 
  • Agg assaults (98% are domestic in nature/acquaintances) and theft from autos. Thieves are looking for handguns and rifles in cars. The last thing we need is another gun on the street. Keep stuff out of plain view.
  • World Cup effectively continues until 7/19, even though the last game is on 7/15. 
• Shadé Stokes-Campbell – ATL311 Community Affairs Coordinator. 
  • ATL311 is available 7am-12am M-F. Please reach out for non-emergency complaints.
  • ATL311@atlantaga.gov is the ATL311 email. Please include photo documentation.
• CM Jason Dozier – CC adopted two big pieces of legislation:
  • Passed a $3.2B budget.
    • Excited about initiatives through Dept of City Planning, including the Love Our Spaces Program.
    • The Neighborhood Reinvestment Initiative. 
  • Legislation CM Dozier is excited about pursuing:
    • Consumer protections legislation for people who are trying to park in a parking lot in Atlanta. 
    • Certain lobbyists were being paid using city funds to promote the NRI. He wants to pass legislation to prevent that from happening again.
  • Update regarding proposed West End / Adair Park Data Center. CM Dozier anticipates that it will go before the City Council on August 3rd. CM Dozier is in opposition to the rezoning. 
  • ATL DOT installed new speed bumps on Beecher, White, and Rose Cir. There is currently a push for speed bumps on Oak and Holderness – hopefully that will happen soon.
  • Lee St, by the West End MARTA station is getting two flashing beacons. One at Beecher St. and one at Oak St.
  • Comprehensive Transportation should kick off this fall or winter. This will focus on what streets need crosswalks, new sidewalks, etc. This will determine how our next T-SPLOST will be spent.
  • Discussion for need for speed bumps on Lucile.

PRESENTATIONS

• Z-25-46 – Ed Akins.  1247 Ralph D. Abernathy. Questions and concerns expressed regarding traffic, parking, and design density.
• BL-26-022 – Devetus Jones. 1277 Ralph D. Abernathy Blvd. Concerns expressed regarding traffic, parking, and density.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT 

• Shout-out to everyone who took part in the 2026 Tour of Homes. Thank you to volunteers, homeowners, ticket-purchasers. The event was a huge success. There were 300+ tickets sold. Attendance was around 250.
• Candlelight Concert is our next big event. Sept 26th. Our featured presenter is Avery Wilson. We are still looking for sponsors, so if you know anyone, please let us know! We are also open to conversations with potential vendors.
• The first Tuesday of August is the National Night Out. We’d like to move the meeting to 6pm.

• Reviewed one application. 557 West End Place. They’ve come up with some plans that committee feels does a better job of keeping up with historic standards, as well as addressing some of the work that was done by one of their contractors without their knowledge.

• • Will be reviewing with an upcoming application 961 Mathews St.
  • GDOT sent a letter to preservation regarding their upcoming changes to RDA that includes a well-done history of the neighborhood. 
• Film Committee

• Environmental Health & Beautification – Kristen Koehnemann (Pronounced “Cane-uh-man”)

  • Working on a couple of Park Pride Applications. Will be meeting with them this week for a Rose Circle Park application in Fall. For Friends of West End Park, we could use some help putting together a design grant for the Master Plan.

• Zoning – Larry Frazer 8:30 pm. Meets last Monday of every month. Advises on new applications as it relates to development, zoning variances. We work hard to make sure that the voices of the community are heard. We also review alcohol licenses and special permits.
  • Z-25-46 – 1247 Ralph D. Abernathy. Recommendation from committee is to support with conditions, including resolution of survey dispute, parking alternatives, design of sidewalks, and to ensure that building materials are conducive to character of neighborhood.
    • Favor: 11  Oppose: 4  Abstain: 2
  • Comments on BL-26-022. Since this is a SAP, it doesn’t require a vote. Property is currently zoned C1, which does support the proposed project. The zoning committee and Exec Committee both question whether student housing was a good fit for that location. Committee also had unresolved questions about zero lot lines, buffers, fence height, parking spots, and trash collection.
