Sky Lofts - Russell New Urban Development, LLC.

City living at it’s finest! Sky Lofts Atlanta is a new gated loft and town home community w/over 9,000 sq. ft. of retail space housing shops for homeowners to enjoy. With easy access to highways I-20, 75/85, I-285, & 3 minutes away from downtown makes this location prime property! The community will feature a sparkling swimming pool, fitness center, meeting room & tax abatement. 2 million dollars will be spent on new sidewalks, trees, streetlights, and other streetscape improvements around the community , which makes this a MUST SEE.

The pride of the portfolio is Sky Lofts, about 200 condo units just south of Interstate 20 at Ralph David Abernathy and Joseph Lowery boulevards. "These compete with Midtown, with Atlantic Station," Russell boasts. And, noteworthy, at about $200,000 for a two-bedroom unit, the price is very attractive.

Sky Lofts replaced an old Sears building. The commercial part of the development is doing well -- with a CVS and other shops already leasing space.

But Russell isn't entirely happy. He sees Sky Lofts as "a new Little Five Points." While there's plenty of buyers -- it's No. 3 among intown condo projects in sales -- there are only a handful of white prospects. "This is a great location for all people," Russell says.

"We're able to make a difference, changing entire areas," Russell says. "Sure, it's a risk. But you know what, it's a risk worth taking. It's a rewarding risk."

      BeltLine - Connect Atlanta

West End is also a pioneer neighborhood for the Beltline  project in Atlanta. The first model mile of Beltline is going to be completed by the end of spring 2008. The model mile will consist of the biking and walking path, improvement of White Gordon Park, and one new park behind Brown Middle School. In addition Trees Atlanta is going to plant 200 trees native to West End which will be part of 22-mile linear arboretum that will follow the Beltline corridor.

February 23  there was a community Celebration at Rose Circle Park where our mayor, Shirley Franklin,  turned a shovel of dirt to formally commence the West End Trail, the 1st segment of the Beltline.
