WEST END ATLANTA

Over the past few weeks, I have had several negative encounters with a particular crazy homeless guy. I've seen him in front of CVS several times, in front of Wendy's, by the Chanterelle's trash bin, and walking along RDA.

He's about 5'10", African American, and dirty, with long sleeves, short hair, and a few gold teeth.

When I am walking by myself, he screams at me at the top of his lungs. Usually it is either something negative about me personally or about white people in general. For example, when I was walking past J.W. Robinson's offices on the south side of RDA, this man was in front of Wendy's. He spotted me, bolted toward me from across the street, and started yelling, "This is the last time you mess with me! THE LAST TIME!" He followed me to the Wren's Nest, screaming about 20 feet behind me. Other times he is more nonsensical: "See those clouds? I can't wait for all of you white people to leave on the boat!"

When I am with someone else, he will not scream. Instead, he'll stare daggers, mutter, and kick things until I round the corner.

This morning, one of our tour guides was coming out of Q-Time. A man who fits this description to a T ran at her and screamed, "GIVE ME YOUR MONEY GIVE ME YOUR MONEY GIVE ME YOUR MONEY." She put up her dukes and threatened to kick him in the balls. The man eased up.

Does any of this sound familiar? Seen this guy around?

I'll give Officer Bender a call tomorrow during office hours since this isn't exactly an emergency, but it's clear to me that this guy is pretty unstable.

Hey! I know this guy, he said some stuff to me too! Ha ha although it is pretty laughable. The guy is easily scared off once you confront him. He is obviously mentally disturbed but, that does not excuse his actions. Now they seem to be a little more frequent I will call Officer Bender to get his feed back. He is working tomorrow, I will tell him to stop by your place to speak with you.

I know him too! He used to freak me out when I walked to the MARTA station by yelling that I had stole his money and that the white people were always stealing his money and ruining the neighborhood. One day I walked by and gave him the biggest smile and a hearty, "Good Morning!" and he hasn't peeped at me since. So I guess you could go off on him with craziness or niceness but just don't ignore him unless you want the abuse to continue! -Susan

Now that you mention it, I had some crazy guy yell something at me in the same manner. I did have words with him. It happened some 4 or 5 months ago and I couldn't even point him out if I saw him again. could someone take a picture of him. We need to get this guy help and off the streets.

Well, I guess my skin color has kept me safe from this person. I am sure Bender will be helpful with this. Possibility get him into a home or on meds

Haha, good call, Susan! Weird. I'll give that a shot the next time he starts growling.

Normally I wouldn't really think twice about it, but I didn't like that he was accosting my employees. I'll send out a memo!

Crazy homeless guy has been getting progressively more aggressive to me. He accosted me at McDonald's and I was with my husband and dog and told me he was going to get me and just wait until he did etc. He did it when I walked to MARTA to go to work and actually crossed the street to harrass me and again on Saturday when I was walking to the MARTA station. I called the police and gave them a description of him. What I find disturbing is he is becoming more threatening. I suppose the police just came out and talked to him if they did anything at all. Any ideas of what I should do?

He has progressed to yelling at black folks now or at least he yelled at me. I called Lt. Sheppard about this after I read your email. She would like a description of the man. I dont remember him well. Would you or someone else give me a more detailed description of him so that I may forward it to her?n,
