I would first like to start out by thanking our new neighbor Mhani Porter, interior decorator/designer, for donating 10 rings of paper so that the Tour of Homes could print out fliers. The left over paper will be used for printing West End Neighborhood Development "stuff". I would also like to thank Eriche Gerber, owner of G&S metal, for donating his time, equipment and material to fix the handrail that surrounds the back of the Wrens Nest Stage. He was able to get it done for us just before our widely attended, over 300 people, Jazz concert. G & S metal fabricates and builds many things related to iron and steel. Consider this company when you are getting wrought iron gates, building, and need handrails. I want to thank Suna Om for her many times of donating items to the community. She has donated items to Brown Middle School, she gave bags of christmas goodies, this year to WEND and the merchants coalition. I am sure she has given more to the community but am not aware of it. She is the owner of the Dollar smart across from the Krispy Kreme and the West End Flea Market across from the West End Mall. I would like to give a big thank you to Vonda Henry for her great fund raising effort that netted the WEND about 5 thousand dollars for the tour of homes and jazz concert. She is part owner of Advertent Mortgage company. If you need any kind of mortgage give her a call. She almost does more than me for the neighborhood.......HaHa. I would like to thank Theresa Hightower who entertained us at the Jazz concert for a small percentage of what she could have received. She grew up and has ties to the West End and showed us all the importance of giving back. If anyone needs a classy and witty, Jazz singer I strongly recommend this woman. I do not know his name but he works with Ms. Hightower and he did the lights and sound for deep discount also and I would like to thank them both. The sky lofts owners, HJ Russell, McDonalds on RD Abernathy, Ever redi exterminating, Brown medical Assoc., Vonda Henry of Advertent, me of All american construction, Natural Hair wonders salon and spa, Benjamin Moore paints on RD Abernathy, Elexis properties, Frank Middlebrooks Realty and Lynne Barry, Impact church, J.W. Robinson and Assoc. who are architects, interior designers and urban planners, Integral who have developed Collegetown across from Morehouse, Ayana productions and Linc Bennett "the artist" donated time/money to make the Tour of Homes and Jazz concert profittable and duable.
I would also like to encourage anyone who needs to get an exterminator that they use Ever redi exterminators. The company has told me and others that he wants to be the go to company in the neighborhood and he is backing up his commitment by contributing to a number of causes and advertises in the West End Newsletter. I also want to give a special thanks to Linda who decorated the tables and surrounds at the Wrens Nest for the Jazz concert. She did a fabulous job and has been living in the neighborhood for years. If you need any events that need decorating please give her a call at 678 642 2959.
Other businesses that need some kudos for their public and private donations to the community are Krogers who have donated so much, the grounds coffeehouse, brent Brewer with creating vibrant communities a non profit that produces the Our West End Newsletter.
I know that I probably left out some companies so please add to my list. Companies that step up and donate need to get the chance for you business. Keep this in mind when you are looking for goods and services.
