My tip is to call ahead and try to get the comparable properties they are using to access your home. Many times they use mortgage fraud properties even if they tell you they dont. After you find out the properties being used. Ask someone to look up the value of those properties are selling currently. Usually you will find these properties are not selling at the value the tax assessor used. The main thing is to get as much evidence against what they claim the value is.

Also, if you find out which properties you are being assess against, you can see if there is a property closer to you that was valued lower.

When I did my appeal they used 4 properties 3 were fraud and one which could have been fraud was almost 3/4 of a mile away. Unfortunately, I used values on my block because I did not know the comparables at the time. I did get a decrease but not the amount I was looking for. If I had known the comparables my case would have been stronger.
