Thanks so much to whichever neighbor posted that YouTube video of the Beltline 5K opening last Saturday morning. I chose not to attend this morning event because I could not in good conscience have attended without protesting Mayor Franklin's presence in our community when she has refused to even speak with us about her closure of Fire Station 7. I am so proud of my community leaders who apparently chose not to share the stage with Mayor Franklin after she closed our fire station and left us all at great risk in our homes and businesses. Thanks to all of them for their courage and willingness to take a stand on this issue.

Although a protest against our mayor would not have been in the best interest of our neighborhood on that day, the silence and absence of our neighbors and leadership spoke volumes about our unwillingness to be used as political pawns. I hope the mayor, and all other elected officials, were listening.

It was a gorgeous day for a run!
I also agree that I couldn't believe the mayor showed her face that day. I'm surprised everyone kept their composure, I was seething inside.

Now we just need to push for some fun public art or a little play structure in the middle of that park. It would be perfect! (And don't tell the city that it's going to be a great spot for skateboarding...)
